My name is Lori and I'm a professional floral designer as well as a passionate nature crafter, among other things. The Beach is the place my heart goes back to whenever I need a creative boost or a relaxed mind. Even though I can't always travel there when I want, I surround myself with reminders of my beach days through crafting with shells, sea glass and shore treasures.
I live in Pennsylvania, a lovely place, but a bit far from the shore for my liking. We live on a small farmette and I grow much of our own food and flowers to craft with. I have Amish neighbors (many have never seen the ocean) and we often hear the clip-clop of horses hooves going by our home. It's been a great place to raise our four children.
My grandmother trained me from a very young child in nature craft and design so when I grew up I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted to do. I went to floral design school out of high school and I worked in a variety of flower shops and then owned my own wedding flower business before I gave it up to raise my children (long holiday hours for mom are hard on kids!). My older children are in their 20's now, my youngest is 11 and I just became a grandma this year!
I work from home now, designing both floral arrangements and websites (what a combo!). Working from home can be challenging but I love the freedom it affords. When I get tired of working in the studio I step out my door to pull weeds, pick vegetables or feed my chickens.
