Have you ever asked yourself why people love the beach so much? What do people ages 2 to 92 always seem to have in common when they are there?...they are HAPPY! Every family member has something to love at the beach. It is simplicity defined. Extreme exercise or peaceful repose, you choose. The beach is for everyone. Nothing to whine about buying, no electronics to compete with (well okay, phones are still there but can be easily ignored).
I think that beach bliss comes in part from the fact that here there are no expectations, there is a cessation from the pressures of life and that feeling of existing in the moment, really LIVING in the moment comes back to us for a time, a blissful nothingness of simply digging our toes into the sand and laying and listening to the waves, or splashing in them.
Minds become clearer and creative thoughts, long buried by "busy" are free to flow again The pressures of life melt away in the sun. The real secret as to why people are happy at the beach is this: everyone lives in the moment and when those moments are filled with sunshine and peace-who can resist? That is why people go back year after year.

I made these for the beach house I don't yet have. lol Maybe I'll give them to a friend that owns a place and so kindly lets us stay sometimes.
Materials: Two unfinished wood signs, Paint: blue and gray, sandpaper, Aleene's fast grab tacky glue, small shells, small sea glass

This tiny shell assort-ment is great!

Folk art Acrylics is the best
paint to use for craft projects. I've been using it for over 30 years! |

It's very difficult to find all the sea glass you need for your projects. I've found this to be a great supplement!

Sand your wood signs, lay down a wash of light blue paint and sand again. Put a very watery, light wash of gray on top and light rub off with a rag.
Sand the pieces. Your aim is to give it a slightly distressed, ocean blue look.
Draw the letters on the sign with pencil and then practice placing the shells. After you are happy with the arrangement, outline the letters with glue and press in the shells and glass. The glue dries clear so don't worry too much about overage.

To finish add a thin line of glue at the bottom of the letters and press in sand mixed with pebbles and broken shells. Add a starfish or a bit of miniature fence. Looks great spelled with your last name as well.
